What better way to kick off Dog Friendly than with the city that never sleeps (unlike my dog)?
Often you’ll hear people say, “I would have a dog if I didn’t live in the city.”
I hold back my bark (my dog is better trained than me and wouldn’t think of barking at this).

SLEEP
The "W" – A four paws rating goes to the P.A.W. (Pets Are Welcome) program at the W.
Upon check in your pooch will receive a toy, treat, poopy bags and welcome letter with a description of the services available for you dog available through the concierge.
In the room, your dog will be lavished with a dog bed, dog bowls and placemat, a special treat each evening at turn down. The W also has available numerous services to include dog walking, grooming and doggy birthday cakes. Please note a $25.00 pet fee and $100.00 non refundable cleaning fee.
Hotel Indigo - Located in Chelsea, this boutique is a hop skip from up, down and all around town. There is a $100.00 refundable pet fee and weight limit of 35 lbs.
This hotel is just a few blocks from the river with trail access as well as the 23rd and 11th Ave dog run.
Hotel Ganesvoort- This trendy and beautiful boutique hotel is located in the hot meat packing district. Voted the nation's "Pet Friendliest Destination" by the readers of Animal Fair magazine, Hotel Ganesvoort offers pet amenities like premium treats, toys, and a collar tag that reads: "I am staying at the Hotel Gansevoort."
The Westin New York at Times Square - When you've run yourself day and night and just need a place to put your head, The Westin is your bet. This no frills hotel is located in the extremely toursity (though a must do) Times Square. There are no fees for your pet. Dogs under 40 pounds welcome. Dogs are not allowed to stay unattended in room.
EAT
Outdoor cafes and parks offer unlimited opportunities to share a quick lunch, or romantic dinner with your pooch.
Pastis - This is the classic "Sex in the City" sidewalk cafe. Surrounded by loads of upscale shopping in the meat packing district, you and your dog will have ample people watching opportunity. After indulging yourselfves with the Bar Steak and Frites you can burn the calories walking and shopping.
d.b.a - This east village beer garden is a brewmeister's (or just beer lover's) dream. The garden patio is relaxed and fun. Come and casually hang for the evening selecting from 100s of brews.
The Boat Basin - Quite possibly the most scenic and dog friendly spot in the city. Views off the Hudson River coupled with good food make this a must do when visiting NYC. Take a nice long stroll in and pop into the dog run in Riverside Park.
Farmer's Market at Union Square - This market is filled with the finest in organic produce and delictables most coming from the local Hudson Valley. Grab a sandwich, salad, muffin, cookies and whatever else you can't resist buying. Grab a bench and picnic with Fido in Union Square and don't forget to hit the dog run.
